Developing a Management Plan for the Poudre River National Heritage Area
The Poudre Heritage Alliance created this site to promote transparency and inclusiveness throughout the development of a comprehensive management plan for the heritage area.
Congress designated the Heritage Area “to provide for the interpretation…of the unique and significant contributions...of cultural and historic lands, waterways and structures..."
The Area is one of 37 National Heritage Areas (as of 2006) and was the first to be established west of the Mississippi.
The Area extends 45 miles from the Roosevelt National Forest in Larimer County to just east of Greeley, near the confluence with the South Platte.
The Heritage Alliance
The non-profit Poudre Heritage Alliance (PHA) guides interpretation, education, and preservation programs and activities. The group is composed of representatives from local governments, organizations and the general public. Please see the Poudre Heritage Alliance page for more information.
